No - social media is a bigger influencer now days. Television back then was fairly new so people were in awe of messages it conveyed. Now days people don't watch television as much and watch things on the internet. Many of the ads are boring on TV and we do things in between ad breaks, hence not actually caring about ads and their opinions. Many influential figures also use social media to convey their point across (ie. politicians campaign on social media because they are aiming to get the younger generations vote).

It doesn't matter if it is TV , radio or your neighbor or friend. People will always be influenced by what they see or hear. If you spend more money on advertising, more people will see or hear it.More people will be influenced. Once the seed is plated, it will always grow. Even in bad soil. Thank you

Yes.. it influences public opinion if so more!!! People are being controlled by an idiot box..bombarding us with advertising crap that doesn't even work..throwing us a learning curve with docos now & then..repeats,ads ,repeats & more brain washing targeted advertising! Tv has definitely come along way from 1950s..black and white to 4k quality..& smart tv to watch our fake facebook/fake news! either way tv has a big part in influencing us & our decisions in everyday life..they may be brainwashing & controlling us!

TV is a brain washing tool. Viewers are bombarded with ads, in-show merchandising and subliminal messages about how they are meant to be in order to be happy in life. Eat this, cook that, buy buy buy, go here, borrow more from there, post about your perfect life, it's all total rubbish that viewers are served up. Total brainwashing and distortion of what is real in life as viewers are made to feel that they have to have bigger better and brighter everything. I switched it off years ago.

In the current day the publics opinion is greater swayed by social media rather than television as it used to be. People are constantly connected, reading articles shared by friends and family or from pages and sites that they follow, which then influences their opinion. Television does still play a minor part, however most young professionals opt for subscription streaming services over conventional TV programs

Australia got tv in 1956. In the beginning it was exciting. You could see the new. And program for the all the family to watch. It is way too much now. If your not watching tv your on your phone or pc. Families don't contact any more. The Comercial start to influence little kids. And they don't want something they demand it. Tv is a money making machine and dose not care what happens to real people. I think ,to solve one problem the western world has. Obesity. Show the cooking shows druing the day. So mum can cook it for dinner. Don't show any takeaway food ,sanks or sweets after 5.oo pm. You will be able to watch the world get healthy again. You see the food on tv you want it even if you are not hungry. " I just have a little, it won't hurt" . Bang your hooked on whatever there happen to show. It definitely would be the way to go, but that will never happen. It's just all about money making. TV dosed care if you don't have a family life anymore. Or that you unhealthy, because you watch it. If there keeped TV more appropriated, like it used to be. Everyone would benefit from it. TV changed the way we lived. Now it's dominants our lives. Just have less of it and watch your family become one again. Everything in moderation. Thank you
