Healthcare is Essential. We are an ageing population and I have paid taxes all my life, so I should benefit. I should not suffer, Healthcare is not a Privilege, it is Essential.

Health care is a right. Every human will experience periods of poor health. A civilised society is one which adopts a welfare model, that is, a society in which the basic needs of all citizens can be met through that society's structures.

Yes It's a right to every human being, and having a good health care for individual is a privilege.Everyone supposedly have the right to access a good health services as they are or we are paying taxes But sad to see most people specially those who can't afford to pay private health insurance was always been left behind.Government should do something about this to make sure everyone regardless of what status of a person are either they are rich or poor they should have a right to access health care as one of the basic need.

I think health care is a right every person should have but unfortunately a lot of people do not have access to basic health care and for them it becomes a privilege. Governments should make sure that every person has access to health care and only procedures which are for cosmetic reasons should be treated as a privilege.

It is a human right to be able to access health care. What you are saying by calling it a priviliege, is that you have to have certain things, act a certain way, to be cared for if you have a severe condition, a mental illness, a major injury or are dying from a disease. Everyone should be able to access health care.

As far as I am concerned there are 4 things the government should provide for any Australian citizen: Basic Healthcare, Education, a policeforce and a defence force. Everyone should be eligible for a certain level of basic healthcare. Obviously procedures such as cosmetic surgery and the like would not be included unless it is needed as a result of illness/acvident etc.
The amount of money given to overseas aid, art purchases and the like could, and should, be used to fund this. So many Australians need healthcare now, not on a waiting list for years!

I believe that healthcare is both a right and a privilege. I see it that it is a privilege we have health care that others don't have in the world however everyone should be entitled to have healthcare especially since people pay their taxes.

I think that what this pageant winner is trying to express is that health care is a fundamental right, that not many people in developing countries have access to, and hence is classified as a privilege. It is taken for granted by many in developed nations, due to the misconception that just because everybody is entitled to it, they have access to it, although this is false.
