Lyme disease is a disease caused by a tick bite..the symptoms range from a bacterial infection that causes fatigue, insomnia + joint/body pain etc so many symptoms makes it very hard to diagnose..do you know somebody with this condition..?!

Australian doctors do not recognise Lyme disease for that reason it is very hard to seek treatment for the condition. One lady flew to Cyprus just to get treatment she feels much better now but hopes Australian doctors will one day treat this condition without judgement from other doctors who believe this disease does not exist..they claim that Australian ticks do not carry Lyme disease..thoughts what do you believe..?!

I believe Australian ticks carry a Lyme like disease. But does it really matter what it's called? I have Lyme-like illness and am very disabled by it - I can't work, be an active parent (my child is 6) or sit upright for more than 2 hours at a time. If it was recognised in Australia I would have been treated earlier and never got so unwell. Reply

The AMA still disputes the presence of this debilitating disease in Australia. They need to wake up and start treating sufferers Reply

This has been going on for years. Patients with these symptoms. Doctors in Australia are very sceptical of it being Lyme Disease. I do know of several doctors in Perth that have taken this on board and are reaping the rewards financially. They send their testing for it to the USA and also get the medication for the patients. It does cost the patients a lot of money. Some patients have had very good results indeed. Reply

Australia refuses to recognise it. Heaps of research has been done. Reply

Yes, I did know of someone who complained of this disease. Unfortunately the medical profession are still very sceptical as the symptoms are very much like influenza. It is hard to correctly diagnose and treat. Reply
