Text Messages.

Just listening to the Radio. There was a story about workers in a company (it was operational) but had been taken over. 40 workers were sent a text message saying that they had been laid off. How horrible for the poor workers. When do you think that it is appropriate/inappropriate to send text messages? Thanks.

Just wrong on all levels... doesn't say much about the organisation and their treatment of employees! Reply

I feel it is inappropriate and very much a cowards way of doing it. Face up to telling employees. Reply

Texting is a great way to let everyone know at the same time, then to be followed by a call. Reply

I have no problem with using a text. I have no doubt the employees have used a text to get a day off work. At the end of the day you are sacked regardless of how you find out. I know some who would handle it better via text than face to face. Reply

That is totally wrong, and rude, they should be telling the people face to face, and not by a text message, which is totally wrong Reply

Rude, cowardly and says a lot about the integrity of the employer. Bad ethics. Reply
