Scott Morrison attendance was confirmed last Friday while some countries considered themselves out of the summit or still undecided. (updated report Oct. 16, 2021) Surprisingly, China’s leader Xi Jinping will not be there in person and is likely to make an appearance by video. Japan’s prime minister is also thinking to participate through online video. Russian President Putin till now has not yet announced if he will attend. India is not even on the list. Pope Francis is no longer expected to attend. He will also address the conference through video or that his Cardinal secretary would read the message on his behalf. The point is, Prime Minister Scott Morrison can also participate without leaving the country. He can just sit down in his room and join the conference. I also doubt that Morrison government will give its pledge to the UN or other nations that Australia will strengthen its target to achieve net. zero emission by 2030 or 2050. If that will be the case, then going there or attending the summit is a waste of time and waste of taxpayer’s money. Sorry Mr. Aussie, it’s too late ! his attendance has been confirmed. We’ll just wait and see how Morrison would explain or justify Australia’s refusal to adhere in achieving the target of net zero emission by 2050. My opinion. Reply

Sure there are better places he would want to go for a holiday, he is going like many other leaders are and it is what Labor was screaming for. And it will be a joke of a summit like everything climate change related is, time to vote no and focus on real problems Reply

As usual being labor, you have it wrong. The United Nations Climate Change conference are yearly conferences hosted by the UK and held in Scotland. It was unclear he was going but other leaders of other countries said 'should be their'. Reply
