Breeding poor animals and then killing them for their organs is cruel and horrible. Humans can decide to donate their organs of their own free will. We should also have an automatic "opt in" system like other countries. Finally, relatives should never be able to over-ride a person's wishes. It's your body and if you wish to donate, that's your right; it's disgraceful that anyone can ignore your wishes. If we followed this system, there wouldn't be an organ shortage.

Maybe if we weren't prioritizing organs to people that can pay up the big bucks for it then more people could be saved. 6 hearts to keep one 100 year old man alive who then died a year later anyway and does anyone even know who I'm talking about?

My uncle ended up having a pig's stomach transplanted into his body when he fell on a mine during WWI and he lived a long and full life with his wife and children. This was well before modern genetics but they were aware then that this was the closest thing they could use to help him when he was so close to death. I guess when you are at that point, then your will to live will allow you to accept things that you normally wouldn't consider. We must be at that point rather than trying to be politically correct all the time.

Only if I have a life threatening condition. Although I do know that they use pig valves in some heart operations.

This is on the Au page and it keeps saying I am in the wrong country to vote on this poll. Gremlins again I expect.
